WordPress Support & Maintenance

As you’re busy growing the business, your website is starting to slow you down. You need updates to your pages, processes that seemed convenient when you launched are now a chore and you need help developing new sections and features to serve a growing audience.

I work with you (and your team) on a monthly basis to help you deliver on your business’ short-term and long-term website goals. We will plan and strategise what you need to deliver over the coming months and I will work with you to get it done.

Small fixes, page tweaks, new features, big changes … We work together to deliver them all on time.

But that’s not all. Here’s more of what I can do for you…

Data recovery that saves lives (perhaps a little melodramatic, but hey)

chris-leftWhen your data gets corrupted all hell can break loose – with my services, and my off-site backup, I’ll be able to get things back to exactly how they were the day before, or the day before that, or the day before that or… you get the point! Anyway, day saved! That’s the point.

Protect your investment

You made a wise investment when you chose a WordPress website – I can protect this marketing asset from attacks by monitoring and updating your Plugin and WordPress Core files on a weekly basis.

Ensure that your site is super speedy and bang up-to-date

Without the right updates and installations any WordPress platform can begin to put in a sluggish, lacklustre performance – a super speedy site is just another part of my monthly maintenance service.

404 Not found! – How very unprofessional

tablet-full-leftYou’ve worked hard to get your visitors onto your site, and the last thing you need is the appearance of a 404 page due to a broken a link. With this service, your broken links will be fixed almost as fast as they appear. No lost business, no confused customers.

A super-fast site – always

A slow site is a big turn off for customers – and it guarantees lost business and big bounce rates, so I’ll optimise yours to make it faster than the speed of sound (O.K maybe not quite that fast, but very fast indeed).

Site down? Business lost.

When your site’s down, your competitors are the only ones who benefit. Uptime Monitoring ensures that your site never goes down without you noticing.

~ Alex Pond

I wont lie, I am fallible. Having worked on hundreds of WordPress projects I can count on one hand the number of projects that have gone south. But I can also say that in each and every case when the relationship didn’t work out I handed over the project to someone else and made every effort to keep the transition as smooth as possible. I’ve never gone fishin’ and have always been there for my clients. Radio silence isn’t in my vocabulary.

How long does the Partner Plan last? Can I cancel?

All plans run month to month. Id recommend a minimum term of three months but it very much depends on what goals we’re trying to achieve.

Previous developers have made me wait and wait and wait. How are you different?

I do something a little different to some freelance WordPress developers; I schedule work into my calendar!
Honestly, its that simple. Im neither a code-ninja nor a growth-hacker, I just plan my time and deliver quality work to deadline.

Is this just for large pieces of work?

My three maintenance plans cover all gamuts of work, larger pieces of work would suit the larger Partner Plan, but I’ll always work with you to identify the most suitable WordPress maintenance plan based on your business goals.

How many tasks are included each month?

I can’t really put a number on it. Each development tasks is unique and each will take a unique amount of time. With each task (or task list) I will always given an upfront estimate as to when I can produce the work so you can manage your deliverables.

What login information will you need to get started?

Once the contracts are signed and sealed, I would need access to your server. Typically gaining access via sFTP login details and/or CPanel login details.

Can you start today?

Not usually no! Because I schedule my work in there can sometimes be a short lead-time before Im able to start tackling your projects. Lead times are normally a few weeks so it’s best to get the ball rolling as soon as possible.

You’re a freelancer, so does that mean you work evenings and weekends?

No. I keep regular office hours Monday to Friday. I have a few family holidays each year, I don’t work over Christmas and I don’t work on my birthday; Im very strict about the last point because the only time I ever worked on my birthday I had a really, really bad day.

How will I know you’re working on my tasks?

Scheduling is not my only secret weapon, I also rely on Basecamp too! Basecamp is a project management tool through which I provide frequent communication and total transparency on the tasks being worked upon. When we work together there should never be a time where you’re thinking, I wonder what Chris is up to today? .. unless Im on holiday, in which case the answer is most probably “wrangling my kids and sipping piña coladas”.

These Plans seem mighty expensive!

Im a skilled WordPress developer and have cut my teeth working on hundreds of WordPress websites. When you hire me you’re not hiring a junior developer who will learn on the job, you’re hiring someone with bags of experience, a developer who can make better changes faster than many other freelance WordPress developers. My role is fundamentally to give you value and I feel the three plans are priced with this in mind.

These Plans seem too cheap, where’s the value?

Im cheaper than most agencies because I don’t have their overheads, plus Im based in the north of England and a sensible distance outside of a major city. These savings in my cost of living I pass directly onto you so you get lots more bang for your buck.

Isn’t WordPress just for Blogs?

Not anymore. WordPress is an incredibly powerful and flexible Content Management System, currently used by almost a quarter of all websites online.

Will you work with our existing code? Are you happy taking over a project?

Absolutely. Sure, I prefer to roll my own, but I frequently work and extend existing custom code and third-party plugins.

Who will own the site (code) once you’ve finished working?

That would be you. If Im taking over a project then the code would already be yours, whilst if Im creating some new functionality from scratch, once the bills are settled and the project is complete, you would retain full ownership.

Our site must be responsive and work on mobiles, is that a problem?

I’ve been working with responsive websites for over five years. Every site I work on these days is optimised for viewing on many different devices including phones and tablets.

Will the work you do be search engine optimised?

Wherever possible the sites I work on will be tweaked and optimised to improve their performances within the major search engines. Im no longer a search engine optimiser, but I do still like to add value wherever I can.

Do you accept credit cards?

Payment Plans are currently settled via invoice. But watch this space.
